CUSTOMERS and staff at a Worcester leisure centre were evacuated after a suspected gas leak.
Around 60 swimmers and other Worcester Swimming Pool customers were evacuated from the Sansome Walk complex in Barbourne yesterday after someone smelt gas.
The gas supply was immediately turned off and the building evacuated at about 2.30pm while Transco experts investigated.
The centre was closed for about an hour before it was confirmed that there was no leak.
Rebecca Douglas, of Leisure Connection, the firm that runs the pool, said it was likely that the smell had come from outside the building.
"The gas company came in and did a thorough investigation of everything and no leaks were found, so the building is completely safe to use," she said.
"We would like to apologise to our customers and members for any inconvenience caused, as well as thanking them for their patience."
