MORE than 1,000 visitors enjoyed woodland craft demonstrations at Worcester Woods Country Park.
Worcestershire County Council Countryside Service staff showcased their skills in pole-lathing, chainsaw milling, wood cleaving, basket weaving and hurdle making at The Woodlands Alive event.
Worcester Woods volunteer group demonstrated coppicing, a practice that prolongs the life of trees and provides an environmentally sustainable source of wood, and there was a demonstration showcasing the art of making greenwood walking sticks.
Hema Kasi-Patel, the council's community liaison officer, said: "We were overwhelmed with the attendance and were very pleased with how the event went. It was the first one we have done.
"It was good to see so many people taking an interest in the traditional crafts and our younger visitors participating in the activities."
