WITH an election looming in the near future, we can all have our dreams and, although I know it will never happen, I would like my chosen Member of Parliament to adhere strictly to the following pledges.
1. Vastly reduce the numbers of Members in Parliament by retaining a few Scottish, Welsh and Irish MPs who can safeguard their national interests, but by returning all the others to their own Regional Assemblies ..... including our Prime Minister and Chancellor the Exchequer!
2. Curtail legal immigration from their initial source of application to a controllable level.
3. Apply permanent and rigorous checkpoints on a 24-hour basis at all official ports of entry.
4. Teach all British children in the United Kingdom to be proud of their heritage. Teach them the history of the British Isles. Teach them the "three Rs".
5. Imprison hardened criminals only and bring back the death penalty for serial killers.
6. Like many other eastern countries, impose the death penalty for drug gang leaders, dealers and anyone conveying drugs into the United Kingdom.
7. Increase the Police Force and their pay by 50 per cent and stop the hours taken writing reports.
8. Remove the 116 quangos created since 1997 plus the National Health Service top-heavy trusts then increase doctors' and nurses' pay by 50 per cent.
9. Finally... bring back one year of National Service for every 18-year-old and above, man and woman, unless they are disabled, in further education or university or pregnant.
All this will be paid for by the government redistributing the billions of pounds now being paid on a daily basis to the corrupt, unelected and utterly useless lawmakers and bureaucrats in Brussels.
JAMES H ALEXANDER,
