YOUNGSTERS had a taste of horse racing when they were treated to a recreation of a race night.
Phil Hudspith of the Warndon Railway Club set up a model of the race night to raise money for the Ican Early Years Language Centre in Tetbury Drive, Warndon, raising £200 in the process.
The centre, which specialises in helping youngsters with speech and language difficulties, will use the money to buy outdoor play equipment it will share with Cranham Primary School, to which it is attached.
"One of our old pupil's dad put our name forward to be a nominated charity at the club, so this donation was a bit out of the blue," said Debbie Carter, a nursery teacher at the centre.
"But it is wonderful that parents of children who have left still remember us," she added.
