Redditch United 1

Nuneaton Borough 5

REDDITCH made it ten goals conceded in two games with a dismal defensive performance at the Valley Stadium.

High-flying Nuneaton went ahead on 15 minutes when Gary Fitzpatrick found Gavin Cowan unmarked at the far post.

Towering striker Brian Quailey stunned the hosts' defenders seven minutes later when he swivelled on the edge of the box and fired in a rocket volley into the top right hand corner.

Substitute Norman Sylla, who was on following an early injury to Scott Rickards, gave United a lifeline just before the break. The speedy striker made the most of a defensive error to round the keeper for 2-1.

However, Quailey doubled his tally three minutes after the break. The forward rounded a couple of static defenders before poking the ball in from close range.

Gez Murphy made it four for Borough, when he ran through one on one with Richard Anstiss before calmly placing his effort into the net.

Skipper Neil Moore wrapped up a miserable day for Redditch when he headed home an injury time corner past a shell-shocked defence.
