I READ with interest the comments written by John Harris of Forest Close, regarding the speed of the traffic on the Alcester Road.
I too have been trying unsuccessfully to get the council to -
1 Change the signage and road markings that are positioned on the Alcester Road which, in my opinion, drivers miss when they speed from the motorway
2 To re-paint the school crossing
3 To erect a more prominent sign to advise drivers there is a school and to slow down.
I have pointed out that cars just drive between the humps and do speed, however a gentleman at Bromsgrove District Council could not see my point at all and disagreed with me.
He also advised me there would be no change to the signs as they fall within the law and I am still waiting for a date for the painting of the crossing.
There was a speed survey carried out on Meadowvale Road however that came back stating the speeds were at an acceptable level.
My point is that people see these strips on the road and slow down, so this can never be an accurate survey of the road.
I have asked for signage to advise children playing and/or a 'slow down' sign. Again no response from the council.
The speed of cars on Meadowvale Road is too fast and I would like to ask all residents who use this road on the estate to slow down, it may be your child that is on their bike or playing out.
When will somebody listen to the local residents and do something to help reduce the speed?
