Droitwich Spa 3 University of Birmingham 0
DROITWICH emphatically ended their three game losing run on Saturday by defeating the Midland Combination Division Two leaders.
Spa sent out a message to the rest of the division that they are back to their best with a commanding performance at King George's Playing Fields.
Goalkeeper Nick West deflected an early shot by the leaders over the goal.
But after that Droitwich took control of the game.
Andy Keenahan opened the scoring when he headed in Richard Maguire's corner in the 20th minute.
Spa doubled the score five minutes later when Darren Charles collected Maguire's pass and calmly slotted it under Birmingham's goalkeeper.
Maguire was once again at the heart of Droitwich's thrusting attacks and just before half time he set up Gregg Cooper for the third goal.
Droitwich were also boosted when Birmingham's goalkeeper was injured in the scramble which lead to Spa's third goal.
Despite being pushed back in the second half Droitwich withstood the pressure for their best win of the season.
Droitwich now go into Saturday's league game away at Continental Star Reserves aiming to boost their promotion hopes (2.45pm kick off).
Droitwich then face their biggest game of the season so far when they take on Bewdley Town in the Worcestershire Junior Cup final at Worcester City on March 9 (7.30pm kick off).
