After the traditional singing of Jerusalem, our February meeting opened with Joyce Karle, vice-president, taking us through the afternoon in the absence of Brenda Jenkins, who was unable to attend.
Apologies were received; birthday wishes for some members were given out.
The county newssheet was read and discussed. Roma, our secretary, dealt with the correspondence and explained about future items and social events taking place in the future.
It was agreed to keep our membership of the supporters club. The resolutions meet at Fairfield was announced. Also the group meeting in March. Betty gave details of members' subscriptions taken, and Sue Kirby was praised for the cheque received for our WI from GiftAid.
Joyce then introduced our speaker Mrs Rewhorn, showing us an unbelievable collection of lace fans, telling us about the history and status over the years, what the meaning and use of fans stood for.
Explaining about the material and patterns used Mrs Rewhorn, being a teacher of the unusual hobby of tatting, displayed some very exquisite designs all made by herself.
The vote of thanks was given by Pippa Spalding. The competition for the lace doiley, all very well displayed, was won by Dorreen, Roma, and Jean.
