A FUN and easy introduction to opera is on offer at Kingsley College Theatre this week.
Hatstand Opera take over the Woodrow venue on Friday with their show Golden Moments from Opera - part of Worcestershire's rural touring scheme Shindig, which aims to bring live arts and entertainment to the local community.
Three singers and a pianist will perform at Kingsley. Fronted by mezzo Kirsty Young, the show aims to appeal to opera devotees and newcomers to the genre alike and features excerpts from the works of Puccini, Mozart, Rossini and many more. And the added bonus is that most are sung in English. Recognisable melodies include those from airline adverts, football songs and detective's favourite tunes.
A spokesman said: "Join Hatstand Opera for hilarious scenes and heart-rending arias, where quick costume changes and informal presentation combine with top-notch singing for a great evening of music and laughter."
Tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £5 (£3 concessions) and are available on 830731.
