RECENT criticisms of the three-storey flats built on the Batchley Estate, Redditch, for Redditch Urban Council, were described as "a storm in a lady's sewing thimble" by Councillor Albert Poole, chairman of the council's estate's committee, at Monday's meeting of the council.
The council had every reason to be proud of the flats.
Living in them cost the average family of four two pence an hour.
Councillor Poole said he was concerned about the way in which the council's policy with regard to flats had been attacked.
"It seems like a storm in a teacup," he said.
"Nay, a storm in an egg-cup.
"Nay, a storm in a lady's sewing thimble.
"We have been more than delighted with the way in which these flats have been constructed.
"They were done according to our plans."
