AN Alcester chip shop owner has said bored teenagers are turning the town's shopkeepers into victims.

Owner of Alcester Square Fish Bar, Chris Tsolakides, said his shop had been vandalised twice in a matter of months, with the latest attack resulting in the glass in the front door being smashed.

He said earlier on that evening, youngsters were throwing snowballs inside the shop and he had to ask them to leave.

He said: "I was extremely worried because the snow could have landed in the hot fat and the shop would burst into flames."

Mr Tsolakides said the youngsters left the Bulls Head Yard shop when he told them to only to return at closing time.

He said: "We're not the only store to be victims of teenagers who have nothing to do and spend their evenings causing problems - we're paying the price for their boredom."

Alcester sector inspector Tim Bailey said the incident was very disappointing and added: "This is completely unacceptable, which is why the Section 30 Order to prevent antisocial behaviour has been introduced in the Hopkins Precinct area.

"We will deal with this sort of behaviour robustly and anyone threatening this scheme will be arrested, interviewed and may find themselves in court."
