WORLD darts champion Phil Taylor heads an all-star cast as the best players in the sport arrive in Kidderminster.

The 12-time world supremo, nicknamed The Power, is one of seven of the world's top ten players lining up on the oche at Kidderminster's Glades Arena on Thursday, April 28 for the 888.com Premier League.

The event, being televised live on Sky Sports, consist of 10 rounds before the top four players move forward to play-offs in May.

Venues have been packed and Kidderminster will be no different as the 550 seats were snapped up within two hours of going on sale.

Players will compete in 12-game 501 matches, with Taylor facing a repeat of the 2003 world final against Canadian John Part at the Wyre Forest centre.

Joining the duo will be Colin Lloyd, Peter Manley and Roland Scholten, ranked two, three and five in the world respectively.

World number eight Wayne Mardle, and Mark Dudbridge, number 10, complete the list.

The Premier League carries a prize fund of £150,000, with £50,000 for the eventual winner and £1,000 awarded for the highest checkout at each of the 10 rounds.

The spectacle is the latest high-profile sporting event to be staged at the county venue.

World snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, Jimmy White, Paul Hunter and Marco Fu wowed a sell-out audience when the Betfred.com Premier League Snooker rolled into town in February.
