DINERS are being asked to come up with a new name for a pub in Wychbold, near Droitwich.
The 180-seater pub and restaurant on Worcester Road is due to be opened in July.
It is owned by Brewers Fayre and, as yet, remains nameless.
Pub names often reflect the local history of a place, depicting a famous landmark, a duke, king or lord or a trade associated with the area.
These names can give historical clues to the area surrounding the pub or they can be used to commemorate and immortalise an event.
"We need your help to discover if there is a mystery surrounding the Wychbold site," said a spokesman for Brewers Fayre.
"Do you know if there a local tradition or trade indigenous to the area which would make a suitable pub name?
"Has a famous poet, king or royal dignitary ever made an historic visit to Wychbold?
"Or is there an historic or geographical attribute we can link to where the pub's situated?
"We'd like readers to provide us with their suggestions, by describing in no more than 100 words what they think the pub should be named and why?"
The winner, who will be invited to attend the pub in July to see the sign put up, will also receive £100 of Whitbread Leisure vouchers and an invitation to the VIP guest preview event, where they'll receive a free three-course meal for four.
Two lucky runners-up will also receive a free three-course meal for four at the special VIP guest preview evening when the Brewers Fayre opens.
