WEDDING fever for the impending nuptials of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles has yet grip Worcester, a city that is historically a royalist stronghold.

The Worcester News visited half a dozen gift shops in the city centre but not one was selling any memorabilia for the event.

Managers said they did not believe the event - originally planned for Friday - had captured people's imagination, in contrast to Prince Charles' first marriage.

They won't be regretting their decision not to stock Royal Wedding china, timepieces and ornaments, after the couple delayed their wedding until Saturday.

Many stockists across Britain are now struggling to sell memorabilia stamped with the wrong date.

Last Thursday, we reported only a passing interest in people buying rubber masks of the couple.

However, stamps could well be a better bet. The Royal Mail is issuing two stamps, including the new first-class, which is to increase to 30p a stamp from this Thursday.

They were both approved by the Queen and show the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles at the Mey Games in Scotland and at the Balmoral estate.
