WORCESTER cleansing teams are going electric in the latest blitz on street litter, with the introduction of two new mini-vans.
The electric-powered vehicles replace Worcester City Council's three-year-old manually-operated handcarts in a bid to increase efficiency.
The energy-efficient £9,500 vans have a 70-mile range with one battery and are expected to be in operation for up to 10 hours a day.
"Being amazingly compact and extremely manoeuvrable, the little vans can come and go pretty much anywhere, while being able to stay dry and warm has already been appreciated by the operators," said environmental services operations manager Malcolm Cox.
