A GUN-toting thief stole a large quantity of cash from Aldi supermarket in Trescott Road, Redditch.
The raid happened on Thursday at 5pm when a man approached an open till and took the cash.
He left the store and was chased by staff but produced what appeared to be a handgun and threatened them.
The man was white, 6ft tall with brown hair and wearing a baseball cap and a yellow fluorescent workman's jacket.
DC Wayne Cashion, of Redditch police, said: "Prior to the incident, the man was inside the store keeping a close watch on the tills for about 30 minutes."
Police are not linking this incident to a similar robbery at Sainsbury's at Abbey Retail Park on March 25.
