Seven out of 10 people want to see the new Malvern Hospital built at Seaford Court, according to the results of a recent public consultation.

The majority also see a minor injuries unit as a priority.

A report on the consultation will be presented to South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust next week.

Carried out between December and March, it included five public meetings and the distribution of thousands of forms. More than 1,000 people attended the meetings and 479 responses were received to the forms.

In the report, the minor injuries unit is described as a "clear priority", because travel to the Worcester hospital can be difficult and because other towns have one.

The second highest priority is bed numbers, with the public demanding more than the 24 proposed and as many as possible to take account of population shift and growth.

The PCT should think ahead, plan the hospital with the expansion of services in mind and not sell off any of the Seaford Court site.

Other priorities include providing advanced diagnostics, day treatment services, palliative care and antenatal and postnatal care.

But nothing in the report says to what extent the trust will take up the public's concerns.

The report, signed by chief executive Mike Ridley and development manager Alec Kendall, concludes: "Work will now proceed to consider, with health professionals both within and outside the PCT, the range of options, draft costings, plans to identify a development partner and the preparation of an outline business case for the strategic health authority."

The board meet on Wednesday (April 6), at 9.30am, in the council chamber, County Hall, Worcester.
