HANLEY Castle High School pupil Sophie Perry has missed a place in the jump-off at the 2005 Pony Club Dengie Winter League show jumping championships.
More than 80 riders from all over the British Isles qualified for the final at Warwickshire College.
The final is for Pony Club riders aged under 19 who have not yet represented their club at area level in show jumping.
Perry, from Mathon, had qualified on her 14.2hh bay pony Sundance Spirit and was representing the Ledbury Hunt Pony Club.
She faced a long and winding 11-fence course, which included two combinations, in the first round of the championship.
The 15-year-old gave a stylish performance and was going clear until three fences from home.
She then faced the second of two double combinations and unluckily took a pole off each part to finish on a total of eight faults.
This left Perry out of the running but it was still a creditable performance for the teenager, who has enjoyed much success with her long-time partner Sundance Spirit, who is equally successful.
The class was won by 12-year-old Anna Dawson from South Durham Hunt Pony Club on her New Forest pony Merlin.
Second, just six 100th's of a second behind, was Reading-based Victoria Dawe and the skewbald pony Midnight.
