IT was understood that Redgrove School in Stoke Works, now scheduled for closure, has an uncertain future.
The building is very much a part of the Stoke Works heritage and could be used to satisfy the needed social centre for village activities catering for the needs of all sections of the community. It could be used by the elderly, and by the very young children as well as satisfying the demands of the youth (the latter often being bored find other less acceptable outlets). There could be adult learning, particularly with computers, and make a one-stop shop for all parish council and other civic activities - it could strengthen the community.
Look no further than the Multi Agency Resource Centre at Charford, a more ambitious and successful scheme, which also started from humble beginnings; let us provide the facilities to encourage youngsters to participate- boredom breeds problems.
This is an open letter to all involved in community activities, whether as councillors, youth or social workers, health- doctors or PCT members, law enforcement etc, to combine in providing these much needed facilities for a parish which contributes so much, particularly employment for the benefit of Bromsgrove- they do not ask for much.. lets see if we can combine to help.
When the canals were displaced as the main transport routes it left Stoke with a legacy of low bridges which cause traffic problems, particularly with the increasing continental juggernauts carrying goods to and from our ever increasing commercial/ industrial activities. I would welcome news indeed if we were informed of the long term road strategy for the area to relieve traffic problems in Stoke Prior, Buntsford Hill and Breme Park which are all geographically linked. In the short term provide adequate notices to warn drivers of all nationalities of low bridges, a simple gantry at a strategic point could solve many problems, road warning speed indicators have a deterrent effec t- comments please.
