MANAGER Jimmy Mullen has not given up on Bromsgrove Rovers gaining automatic promotion from the Southern League Division One West - despite Monday's draw with Sutton.

The Rovers boss has targeted four wins from their final games to give them a chance of finishing in the top two.

He said: "It's going to be difficult to catch the teams above us but we can still do it.

"Who knows what could happen to the other sides? They could slip up and let us in.

"The point is that there is still an awful lot to play for."

Bromsgrove start their final sequence of games at home to Swindon Supermarine on Saturday (3pm kick off).

Rovers then play Burnham away on April 16, leaders Mangotsfield at home a week later, before ending the regular season at bottom side Egham on April 30.

Rovers have played a game more than their rivals, but crucially Yate's game in hand on April12 is at home to Mangotsfield, while Evesham have a tricky game at Cinderford.

Mullen is hoping defender Matt Gardiner has recovered from the knee injury he sustained at Bedworth United last week in time for Saturday's game against Swindon.

Midfielder Scott Hadland is a doubt because of a knee problem.

Mullen said: "Matt's making progress, but Scott can't do anything as his knee keeps swelling up."

The return of Ross Collins at the back though has lifted the manager's spirits.

Despite breaking his nose on Saturday Collins, who has missed the last month through injury and suspension, made an impressive return.

Mullen said: "It says everything about Ross that he'll go on playing despite the agony he's in - that's the measure of the man."

Teenage striker Matthew Barnes-Homer, who signed from Hednesford Town before the transfer deadline last week, may start on Saturday after two impressive substitute performances against Brackley and Sutton.

Mullen said: "Matthew's a good player and a nice lad and when he's come he's looked the part."

Leon Broadhurst, signed from Midland Alliance side Stourbridge, is also set to start.
