I WRITE as a former secretary and swimming teacher of the Droitwich Dolphins in the days when the only pool we had in which to teach non-swimmers was the Lido.
Today, we anticipate the re-opening of the canal and a 'water feature' in the park and there is a waiting list of non-swimmers at the leisure centre.
Tonight I hear on national television that one in five primary schoolchildren cannot swim, and the most dangerous places for them are canals and water features.
Have Wychavon got their priorities wrong? I believe so- apart from the pleasure and visitor attraction it will provide, for health and safety reasons we need the Lido so children can learn to swim in safety.
