IT was pleasing to win the manager of the month award for March -- though I would credit the honour to everybody involved at Worcester City.

Those sort of awards are not just won by the manager, they are won by everyone who contributes to a football club's success.

I would credit it to the chairman Dave Boddy for giving me the opportunity to become player-manager and the board of directors that backed his decision.

It is for my assistant Andy Morrison, to all the back-room staff and to the players who have reacted in a positive manner since Andy and I came in.

Lastly, it is for the supporters that have turned out and supported us, especially through times when we were going poorly.

As far as the supposed 'hoodoo' of winning the award goes, people only talk about it when their team loses the next game.

If you have a look around and see other managers picking up their monthly awards, I bet a lot of them get good results straight after.

To me, there is no curse in winning such an award and we proved that by carrying on our fine league form at Hinckley United on Saturday.

However, comparing our performance with the previous victory over Hucknall, I don't think we played as well, especially in the first-half.

Magnificent

We could have been behind at half-time but for Danny McDonnell. He made a magnificent save and Barry Woolley followed up with a great clearance off the line.

Danny has done that a few times for us this season and without those saves, we would probably be sitting in mid-table and just above relegation. That moment changed the game, so credit to him. It all changed in the second-half. We were magnificent and thoroughly deserved to win. It could have been by a greater margin too.

Our front two, Leon Kelly and Adam Webster, carried the team. They gave us a breather in the first-half and were lively, dangerous and got the goals they deserved.

Leon was electric all afternoon, no-one could have handled him the way he played. He is just so strong and has so much power and strength. He gets knocked down and then stands up.

It was the complete performance from Leon, holding the ball up and running at people. He was magnificent.

Leon picked up a little bit more confidence once he put us in front. He deserved a goal because he gives us the same performance week in, week out.

What more can be said about Webby. His finishing was top drawer. When he gets a chance, it's in the back of the net and he has to continue like that.

It is not just about the front two, though. Everybody is doing their jobs and working hard for each other. If someone is slightly off their game, then someone else is pulling them through. When that happens, you become a very hard team to beat.

Things are getting that little bit easier every time as we try and make the play-offs. We've now got to win five games, which is easier than having to win six.

Saturday's trip to Stafford is another difficult one. I've watched them a few times already and it won't be easy. Their pitch is very bobbly and I expect it will be a battle. But we will have to win that battle.
