The president Maureen Smith welcomed members to the 49th birthday meeting of Sidemoor WI.
A special welcome was given to WI advisor Greta Mitchell. The institute was toasted by the members with a glass of sherry. Easter eggs were collected. These are to be sent to the Sunfield Children's home. Catherine Kealy, the secretary, gave a report on the group meeting. The birthday girls were given their birthday greetings. The newsletter was read and discussed. The speaker, Shirley Brittan who is a member of an old Bromsgrove family, the Gowers, was introduced.
She kept her audience enthralled with her account of Sidemoor in particular. Numerous raffle prizes were won, the evening ending on a happy note, with a supper provided by the committee and a superb birthday cake made by Shirley.
