President Betty Wolsey welcomed members to the meeting. Thanks were expressed to Betty Gibbs for ensuring that the hall was adequately heated for the meeting. The recent long cold spell has prevented some of the older members attending. Margaret Chance had enjoyed her recent visit to Denman College for a course on lace making so much that she has booked a place on a similar course for next year. Lynn Nash, a beauty therapist, was introduced to give a talk on skin care, reflexology, aromatherapy and other therapies. The talk was followed by a general discussion. The importance of skin cleansers and moisturisers in the daily routine was stressed, together with the need to drink two litres of water to maintain hydration and overall health. Mobility can be improved by attending a health and fitness centre where power assisted exercise machines and toning chairs are available for those who don't or cannot exercise. Lynn was thanked for presenting such refreshing ideas and for promoting discussion between members.
Nancy Davis won the picture of a flower competition with her pink poppy in cross-stitch embroidery. The next meeting will be tomorrow (Thursday) at the village hall. Margaret Chance is to give a presentation on lace making and there will be a competition for a pretty apron.
