A man found dead in woodland near Bromsgrove has been named.
Police believe the body to be that of missing slaughterman Christopher Jones.
A post mortem examination, which was carried out last week, also confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and that a handgun was recovered nearby.
Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The body was discovered at around 6pm on Sunday, March 27, in woodland off Lower Bentley Lane, Lower Bentley, near Bromsgrove, by a gamekeeper.
Friends and family had not seen Mr Jones, who was aged 45, since last summer.
Before he went missing, he worked on a number of farms in the area as a slaughterman and lived at many different addresses with various family and friends in Bromsgrove, according to the police.
Detective Inspector Paul Williamson, of Bromsgrove police, said: "We believe the body had been there for some time and formal identification may take some time.
"However, we have some evidence to indicate the body may be that of Christopher Jones."
The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held in due course.
Anyone with information which may help the police trace the movements of Mr Jones should contact West Mercia on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
