CONSISTENCY on the oche has seen Rachael Dixon move four places up the darts world rankings, writes Mervyn Collins.
It's been a busy schedule since the season started last November but the Vale player's accuracy has brought its rewards.
In addition to a rise up the rankings, Dixon has also secured a place at some of the sport's most prestigious events and that means television exposure.
She currently stands at No 5 in the BDO World Championship standings with the top six guaranteed a place in the televised finals at the Lakeside Club.
Dixon finds herself in the top six players on cou-rse for World Darts Trophy success and yet more small screen coverage this time in Holland in September.
She will be hoping to further cement that position when she heads off to Prestatyn next month to take part in the Welsh Open.
Coverage
There could be yet more coverage from the Winmau World Masters in Bridlington later this year, while Dixon's talent will also see her in action for Worcestershire at Hemsby near Great Yarmouth in the England Team Championships.
Dixon's excellent form with the arrows has meant covering the miles around Europe but it's all proved worthwhile.
She reached the semi-finals of the Northern Ireland Open and then took joint fifth spot in Sweden.
Closer to home she reached the final of the Eastbourne Open that attracted 350 players and she was only denied the coveted trophy when losing out to the world's No 3.
Revenge was then sweet when she got the better of her conqueror in the Finland Open only to lose out to the world ranked No 2 opponent.
Dixon dropped a mere three legs when reaching the quarter-finals from a field of 400 in Scotland and she attained a similar finish in another big field in Germany.
It's not just on the international scene that Dixon has been excelling. She has recently become the first female to win the men's singles crown in the Alcester and Studley League!
Just for good measure, she recorded a notable double when partnering Ian Clements to also win the doubles title.
The Evesham thrower has teamed up with Keith Deller and Bobby George for a series of exhibition appearances for charity and more details of her forthcoming fun fixtures can be found by ringing her on 07803 227184.
If Dixon is to move even higher up the world listings then she will need the help of a sponsor and anyone interested is asked to contact her on the above number.
