A PROPERTY developer who stopped work on two homes to make way for the removal of scaffolding from Wesley Methodist Church has warned he will not be able to postpone his project indefinitely.
Thomas Barnes, director of Oakleigh Developments, said cranes would not be able to reach the church at all once garages had been built to accompany two new houses on his company's site neighbouring the church.
He added the project had already been postponed for four weeks and described the sequence of events on Friday as "exceptionally frustrating".
He said: "We will hold off for as long as we can but then there may come a point where we can't hold off any longer because we've got a significant investment in our development.
"But we hope for it to be resolved before that happens."
West Mercia Constabulary spokeswoman, Lynne Masters, added police had attended the scene to prevent a breach of the peace.
"This isn't a police matter - it's a civic dispute about land and boundaries," she said.
"They were residents of Parkes Quay that were preventing the crane coming through. There's some sort of ongoing dispute, I think, but we're not getting involved."
