A STOURPORT resident who suffers from arthritis in her knees has been given some of her independence back after winning a mobility scooter.
Margaret Walters, 82, of Bewdley Road, who was finding it increasingly difficult to walk, received an Explorer 4 Compact scooter in manufacturer, Prestige Mobility's, monthly competition.
She will now be able to regain some of her independence and can continue to do her shopping on her own.
Mrs Walters said she was "thrilled" to win the scooter, adding: "You do these sorts of things and you don't think you've got a chance".
Her win came on top of some other good news, she explained: "I was having a stairlift installed on the same day I was told I had won the scooter."
She went on: "I'm going to practise a three-point turn in the garage and get used to all the controls."
Prestige Mobility is a family-run company, which specialises in mobility scooters to help people maintain their independence.
The firm runs a monthly competition that anyone over 18 can enter to win a scooter.
