I WOULD like to comment on the letter from Mrs P Rickson (Shuttle/Times & News, March 24).
I am also a holder of a blue disabled badge and wish to point out that the area where Mrs Rickson parked (in front of the bus stop marked area in Blackwell Street, Kidderminster) does have room for two vehicles to park but only one legally, as there is a dropped kerb there. This enables wheelchair users to cross the road or to be picked up by the vehicles for park-and-ride and disabled shoppers.
There is also a dropped kerb outside the Swan Centre next to Boots which is often obstructed by illegally parked vehicles.
When allocated a disabled blue badge permit you are given a booklet which tells you where you cannot park, one of them being "where a kerb has been lowered or the road raised to form a pedestrian crossing."
So even though you are displaying a disabled badge, you are still breaking the law and also inconveniencing other disabled people who may need to cross the road in wheelchairs.
