I DEPLORE what has happened in Habberley Valley (Horses helping to save snakes, Shuttle/Times & News, March 24).
What right has Paul Allen (district council Countryside Officer) to decide which nature shall survive and which shall be destroyed?
The valley is a beautiful place, something for everyone. There are wide open spaces for picnics and playing, and woodland for those who want a quick walk with their dog.
There is nothing more therapeutic than walking through woodland with its peace and quiet. But what mother would want their child to go where adders are encouraged to breed?
I believe the real reason for the trees coming down is their value.
This destruction is just the start and what a boring place it will be when they have finished.
