BEWDLEY Town entertained the largest Ribbesford Meadows crowd of the season by keeping their West Midlands League division one title tilt on track with a 3-0 win over Darlaston.
Around 150 supporters turned up for Saturday's clash and they went home happy as goals from Chris Hough, Lewis Pountney and Ben McClouglan underlined their superiority.
The win means Bewdley still trail Great Wyrley by two points after the leaders' emphatic 4-0 win at Wednesbury.
Bewdley were boosted by the return from holiday of 40-goal strike duo Jamie Hart and Pountney, while boss Craig Payton was also back after a break.
They dominated proceedings and deservedly opened the scoring on 10 minutes when Hart escaped down the right and picked out Hough for a drilled finish past the keeper.
Bewdley were comfortably in control for the rest of the half and made it two on 45 minutes when Hart grabbed his second assist in setting up Pountney for a simple finish.
Despite Hart and Pountney having several chances and the former having a decent penalty appeal turned down, Bewdley kept plugging away.
And they made it 3-0 on 79 minutes when Gary Middleton delivered a dangerous free kick into the six-yard box and with the Darlington keeper flapping, McLouglan pounced to score.
Boss Payton amitted promotion was almost assured following the defeat of third-placed Riverway, but he insisted that Bewdley would not take their foot of the gas as they bid to clinch the title.
He said: "People said earlier in the season that we'd never catch Great Wyrley but we've closed the gap which was as big as 13 points at one time.
"We won the league three years ago so we've got that experience which will hopefully give us the edge.
Bewdley are in talks with four local clubs about the prospect of groundsharing in the event of promotion to the Premier Division and have told league bosses of their intentions.
They entertain Bilston Town at 2.45pm on Saturday.
Chaddesley had a break from West Midlands League division two on Saturday. They visit Kington Town Reserves on Saturday.
