HOLIDAY workshops for youngsters at Evesham Arts Centre are to be reviewed after the latest one flopped.
Not a single youngster turned up for a Movies for Mobiles workshop at the centre last week and organiser Lynn Davies said he would now look at the future of the workshops, which were launched last summer.
"It has been a hit and miss affair," admitted Mr Davies, a freelance outreach arts officer paid by Wychavon District Council and the Arts Council.
He had no idea why the latest workshop, which was targeted at youngsters aged 12 and over, failed to generate any interest.
"We acknowledge that doing workshops is rather new for the arts centre. Perhaps people are not accustomed to holiday workshops," said Mr Davies.
He also said that the idea of being able to make and send "mini movies" by mobile phone might have been a bit too new.
"We were excited about the possibility of trying this," he added.
"I will have to review whether I will continue using the arts centre for holiday workshops. There are other things we are doing with the arts centre that will continue," said Mr Davies.
"We are still probing the whole marketing and publicity side of the arts centre," he added.
Jill Haycock, secretary of Evesham Arts Association, whose volunteers organise events at the arts centre, said the organisation was keen to generate more interest among younger members of the community.
He said the site, which is part of Prince Henry's School, may be off-putting for some youngsters.
"As it's on a school site perhaps some children think it's going back to school," said Ms Haycock.
"I'm no expert in this. I think it's how these things are promoted," she added.
But, Mr Davies said a new group for amateur writers and actors has proved popular.
More than 30 people attended an inaugural meeting of the Red Light Company last month.
A Green Light Writers group has also been formed along with a Blue Light Crew for backstage, production and front of house members.
