NO one should be surprised that a larger percentage of people walk to work in Worcester than in any other town.

The so-called Faithful City has a rotten bus service, almost non-existent in some areas, and appalling parking facilities which, where they exist, are inadequate and dear.

Furthermore, the Romans and mediaeval ecclesiastics did their part in ensuring that the streets of Worcester were inappropriate for the 19th Century, let along the Third Millennium. Traffic conditions are absolutely dreadful.

No doubt most Worcester commuters find walking through the scruffy and dangerous thoroughfares, complete with chewing gum and stained with urine, absolutely objectionable. However, Shanks' pony is the lesser evil.

Worcester also has a so-called High Street that resembles a tip. Worcester can only be regarded as a dump!

D E MARGRETT,

Worcester.
