A MYSTERY Worcestershire resident has scooped a £10,000 Premium Bond prize in this month's draw.
The lucky winner, believed to be a woman, bought the £500 Bond less than four years ago in August 2001 but has so far failed to collect the windfall.
It is understood the owner owns a total of £1,400 in Premium Bonds and this win is equivalent to a return of 20 times the original investment.
This prize is one of 50 awarded to lucky winners across the UK and one of two awarded to winners in Worcestershire in the April Premium Bond prize draw, which is operated by National Savings and Investments.
In Worcestershire more than 210,000 people hold Premium Bonds worth more than £250m.
However, more than 2,300 prizes worth nearly £135,000 remain unclaimed, potentially including at least five of £1,000. There is no time limit on claiming prizes.
Sally Swait, Premium Bond manager at NS&I, said: "This win will be a wonderful surprise for someone."
