The Conquest Production employed a team of four actors, three singers and a pianist.
They combined all the aspects that make a good show to bring historical readings, letters, speeches and songs about past kings and queens to life.
The actors succeeded in appearing to live the old language so that the information they relayed was neither bombastic nor heavy.
Indeed all four employed a variety of tone, accent and stage direction that made their performances easy to listen to and digest.
Particularly good was Brian Harman as James I, Charles II and George II and Ann Smith in all the women's roles, including Jane Austen, who at 19 wrote her own royal history, Mary Tudor, Anne Boleyn, Queen Victoria and novelist Fanny Burney.
