A 10-YEAR-OLD boy was left devastated after having two bikes stolen in separate incidents in a fortnight.

Shaun Jones left his old bicycle at his grandmother's house in Beauchamp Road, Malvern, to use when he was there.

The bike, worth about £130, was bought as a present several years ago.

It was stolen from the garden shed sometime between March 23 and April 2.

His new bike, a BMX Hammer Ray worth about £70, was a Christmas present and was kept at his mother's home in Bawdsey Avenue.

It was stolen this week, between 4pm on Monday and noon on Tuesday.

"Shaun's just devastated," said his mother Dawn.

"All his friends have gone off on their bikes and he's had to go out on his scooter. He's really upset.

"I called the police but they said it's highly unlikely that we'll ever see either of the bikes again."

She was unable to buy Shaun a replacement bike and could not claim on her home insurance because of the excess payment required.

Another BMX bike was also stolen from a Beauchamp Road property on March 24.

Police spokesman Richard Bull said: "There does seem to have been an increase in this sort of offence during the Easter break.

"We're grateful to anybody who can provide us with any information that might lead to these crimes being solved."
