ARDEN Sailing Club (Defford) held their annual Easter Egg event this Sunday and attracted four different classes of dinghy for the three races.
Andrew Potts brought his newly acquired Solo down for its first outing and he and Ralph Evans in his recently acquired new Solo enjoyed close racing all day.
The first race was a handicap event, the Enterprise of Niall Campbell and Jane Smee (Enterprise) kept in front sufficiently to win with Andrew Potts (Solo) taking second place and Ralph Evans (Solo) third, by the slimmest of margins.
The second race was a pursuit. The strengthening south-westerly breeze seemed to suit Ralph Evans who stayed ahead to win from Niall Campbell and Jane Smee, pushing Andrew Potts into third position.
The third race was again a handicap and this time Andrew Potts was able to take second from Niall Campbell and Jane Smee, with husband and wife team Jeremy and Michelle Griffiths (Enterprise) holding onto third place.
Overall places were first to Nial Campbell and Jane Smee (Enterprise), second to Ralph Evans (Solo) on count back and third to Andrew Potts (Solo).
Members are reminded the presentation night is on April 16 at the Pheasant, Welland, for full details contact Chris Stevens.
Next Sunday (April 17) the club has an open day commencing at 11am and a warm welcome is extended to all who would like to try sailing or watch others. For more information contact Helen on 01905 23298 or Ray on 01386 554109.
