TOWN Reserves bounced back to winning ways with a nice 5-2 scoreline against Staffordshire side Eccleshall on Saturday.
MALVERN TOWN RES 5, ECCLESHALL 2
This was an exceptionally good result considering Town only had a squad of 12 players to pick from and four of these were carrying injuries.
The visitors were first off the mark when poor defending allowed two Eccleshall forwards the opportunity to run in unopposed, giving Adrian Whittal-Williams no chance.
Town got on level terms four minutes later when Ollie Endacott cracked in a free-kick from the edge of the box. The ball took a handy deflection just as Russ Todd seemed to have it covered.
Eccleshall regained the lead when right-wing Andy Garret caught Whittal-Williams off his line with a well-flighted 30-yard dipping shot.
Town equalised when Chris Fellows was fouled contesting a ball in the 18-yard box and Mark Goodman hammered home the resultant penalty making the score 2-2 at half time.
Early in the second-half, Endacott had a good effort cleared off the line. He then put Goodman into space with a nice flick-on, which he took to the bye-line and chipped Todd from the narrowest of angles, putting Town in front for the first time.
Chris Fellows slipped his marker and toe-poked the ball past Todd before Goodman rounded the keeper to record his hat-trick.
Man-of-the-match was Mike Roberts.
