EVERY year I notice Worcester City Council quietly write off huge debts owed to them by people who simply don't pay their council tax. This year, it's about £1 m pounds I understand.
If Worcester is so cash-strapped, why don't we have a name and shame campaign to identify these freeloaders in our midst?
No, it won't be poor people, because they can get benefits or exemptions to help cover their council tax, so my guess is that non-payers are largely "artful dodgers" who rely on the code of silence that surrounds our Guildhall to protect them from being exposed.
Well, now we have a freedom of information Act, let's test it and discover who are Worcester's weakest links when it comes to paying their whack? Or will it be a case of "not on your nelly?"
