I AM very concerned about the spread of MRSA in hospitals throughout the country, and listen with interest to discussions regarding the various measures taken to combat it. I am amazed that everyone seems to miss one simple way to help stop this terrible bug spreading.

Would someone please tell me why hospital staff are allowed to wear their uniform outside the hospital?

I am astonished at the number of hospital staff, including nurses, cleaners and so on, who constantly wear their uniform outside of the hospital. Surely, this is the worst kind of cross-contamination imaginable? Not only are they taking germs in, but also run the risk of taking germs home! If chefs and cooks are not allowed to wear their "white" outside the kitchen for fear of cross-contamination, then why is it all right for hospital staff?
