MORE details on the transformation of a former city hospital site into University College Worcester's second campus will be unveiled next week.
Dr Martin Doughty, the St John's college's assistant vice principal, is leading UCW's preparations for a £100m state-of-the-art campus in Castle Street.
He will discuss the project as guest speaker at the Civic Society's Annual Mayoral lecture on Thursday.
At the meeting, Dr Doughty will outline plans and ideas for the five-acre site, which will include a conference centre, student accommodation, the refurbishment of historic buildings and the addition of terraces and walkways. There will also be an integrated college and public library and information centre, which would be located off The Butts.
"We want to create a modern campus in the centre of Worcester to meet the educational, economic and cultural needs of the region," said Dr Doughty.
"These are exciting times, and hopefully this talk will whet the public appetite for how this development will serve not just the students and staff of University College Worcester but the people of Worcester and the region as a whole."
The talk, entitled Worcester's Future Learning and Cultural Quarter -- the Transformation of Worcester Royal Infirmary takes place at 8pm on Thursday at the Guildhall, in High Street, Worcester.
Admission is free and refreshments are available.
Worcestershire County Council, Worcester City Council and Worcester College of Technology, as well as Advantage West Midlands are supporting the ambitious project.
