A 30-YEAR-OLD man had to be rescued by the city's fire service after he jumped into the River Severn in the middle of Worcester.
The man leapt off the New Road bridge in the city centre just before 2.45am on Sunday and was in the water for about 20 minutes before being rescued.
Two crews from Worcester Fire Station were mobilised following a call from a member of the public and an inflatable boat was launched to recover the man from the river.
He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance and was put in a special blanket to raise his temperature. He was discharged in the afternoon.
