TONY McCoy could be forgiven for thinking he will never win the Grand National after the luckless run of Clan Royal at Aintree on Saturday.

But the champion jockey reacted in the only way he knows how -- with two winners for his boss Jonjo O'Neill at Worcester yesterday.

The champion jockey, leading at Aintree when his mount was taken out by a loose horse at Becher's Brook on the second circuit, landed the Today Is Family Funday Novices' Hurdle on Thyne For Intersky, and the First Evening Meeting Wednesday 20th April Maiden Open NH Flat Race on Young Dude.

McCoy was in control early in the straight on 6-4 market leader Thyne For Intersky, who pulled six lengths clear of The Kirk.

But his win on even-money favourite Young Dude required him to get more serious with his mount, who had a length and a half to spare over Delightful Cliche.

O'Neill, who was manful in the way he took Clan Royal's exit, said of Thyne For Intersky: "He loves this ground and will keep going through the summer in novice chases."

Young Dude, who is owned by John Magnier's racing manager Paul Shanahan, is on course for a trip to Punchestown for a 'winners of one' bumper later in the month.

Robin Dickin demonstrated his good eye for a bargain when he purchased Jack Of Spades for 16,000gns at Doncaster.

The full-brother to Monsignor had cost 145,000gns as an unbroken four-year-old but has taken a long time to come good.

And it was with a sigh of relief that the trainer greeted his charge after he landed the Letheby & Christopher Handicap Chase by six lengths from Jardin de Beaulieu.

Jack Of Spades is likely to return to this venue for a novices' handicap on April 30.
