A POPULAR monthly dance in Worcester is drawing in the crowds and continuing to raise cash for St Richard's Hospice.

Brian and Philomena Green, of Fernhill Heath, have been running the regular ballroom, latin and sequence dances at St John's Sports Centre in Worcester for several years. Brian's "Supersounds" has built up such a following that the glittering monthly dances regularly attract 160 people from the city and beyond. Brian said: "We're very proud we have such a wonderful following and can raise so much money for St Richard's.

"Since we've been welcoming people to the dances we've raised over £10,000 for the hospice." St Richard's Community Fund-raiser Alison Weston said the dances were a hit locally long before BBC television's Strictly Come Dancing showed us all how glamorous and exciting it could be. "Brian and Philomena do a wonderful job and we are very grateful for all their hard work helping raise much-needed funds for the hospice," she said. "We would also like to thank all those dancers who come along and support the events."

The next dance takes place this Saturday, followed by one on May 14 and June 11. For the full programme of dances for 2005 contact Brian and Philomena on 01905 454338.
