A STRAY hamster was given a temporary home at a Worcestershire police station after being saved from the clutches of cat by a passing constable.
West Mercia Police said officers were now attempting to trace the owner of the rodent, which was plucked to safety in Bromsgrove. PC Simon Wills was driving back to the town's police station when he saw the hamster being pursued by a cat in Fordhouse Road.
A force spokesman said: "PC Wills shooed the cat away and managed to catch the hamster, which he put in his patrol car and took back to the police station, where a temporary home was made out of a box.''
Anyone who thinks the hamster may belong to them is asked to contact officers at Bromsgrove police station on 08457 444888.
