Redditch VC Women 0
Birmingham City Development Women 4
REDDITCH VC had their first taste of a cup final in the Central Warwickshire League Shield but were beaten by a tough Birmingham team.
VC could have taken the lead inside the first two minutes when the Birmingham keeper spilled the ball under a challenge from Jenny Worthington. Tamsin Mayberry came in for the rebound but her effort went agonisingly wide.
As the first half wore on VC came under more pressure but stout defending from Kate Saint and Livia Turton thwarted Birmingham efforts.
Nicky Metje was focused in the VC goal and managed a number of good crosses before Birmingham took the lead with five minutes to go before half time.
Birmingham doubled their lead minutes after the restart and a goal-mouth scramble saw VC three down.
VC bounced back and Lianne Cooper continued to cause the Birmingham problems down the right and earned a free kick for VC in a dangerous position. Nat Lawrence delivered for Kate Saint but her header flew narrowly wide.
In the dying moments VC conceded a fourth, when Metje tipped a cross onto the bar only for the rebound to be slotted home.
