Further to Councillor Brian Fuller's letter in last week's paper, I wholeheartedly agree that we must reduce our waste.
However, I should like to point out that the majority of household waste is from packaging and unsolicited mail, including inserts in newspapers, which we the general public, have no control over. Our council is guilty of this with frequent inserts in our local papers.
Until the Government passes legislation to reduce packaging and unsolicited mail, it is going to be very difficult to reduce our domestic waste output by two per cent per year.
