Evesham U-9 10, Bromyard 2
EVESHAM'S youngsters visited Bromyard for the second time this season where they helped out the depleted hosts when Adam Johnson volunteered to turn out for the home side.
The visitors were caught cold when Bromyard scored an early try but they soon found their feet and Jack Witts levelled with a fine score.
Evesham now started to play good rugby which was a joy to watch as they out their practice into some excellent well-drilled play.
Matt Camp's exhilarating solo run straight through the middle was only halted by several Bromyard players but he passed to captain Aaron Parks who, when tackled, laid the ball back beautifully for Keiran Sherwood to pick up and pass, back for Camp to cross in the corner.
Bromyard came back stronger, passing well and making good ground, only for Evesham to push them back by putting in some crunching tackles, especially from Alex Stoddart and Alex Tarplee.
Camp scored two more tries with help from Sam Waller , James Thomas and Jack Witts as the visitors led 5-1 at the interval.
Substitutes Josh Perry, Ashley Charlton, Joe Beirns and George Anderson were all introduced for the second half but it was Bromyard who scored again soon after the restart.
Charlton answered swiftly with a blistering try running straight through the opposition - a score that appeared to wake Evesham up.
Alex Stoddart scored the next try after the whole team had worked the ball upfield. Josh Perry then scored a good solo effort in the corner before Charlton and Witts again touched down to round off a fine display in which Aaron Parks was named player of the match.
