President Margaret Wainwright opened the April meeting and welcomed visitors. Members spoke warmly of the Corbett Group meeting, when a talk by a forensic scientist revealed the work they undertake to identify minute particles for use in evidence.
Other business agreed that three members would go to a meeting at Powick to discuss the AGM resolutions, and then present them for discussion at the next meeting. We also heard about the council meeting in Malvern, where , it was reported, Nick Owen from the BBC gave a very raunchy talk.
This was followed by a moving farewell tribute to our retiring county chairman Suzanne Owen, whose whole family, including toddling grandchildren, came in to her complete surprise, and joined in the singing of Oh! Suzanna.
We are hoping to take some part in the wartime memorial weekend in Droitwich Spa on May 7-8. Margaret then introduced her daughter, Wendy Hodgetts who, assisted by Linda, gave us all a splendid practical class in flower arranging. Everyone was given a small basket, prepared with a cube of Oasis, and using the plentiful supply of foliage and flowers we all tried to emulate Wendy's example.
After thanks to Wendy and Linda, tea and biscuits were enjoyed and the meeting ended. The resolution meeting will be held on May 4.
