Ruth Bottomley was in the chair and she recorded our sadness at the death of our long-time member Florence Catley, who was 94 when she died.
There followed a short period of silent remembrance.
The guest speaker was Kathy Lee, a national demonstrator, who gave a sparkling presentation entitled diversity. She emphasised how lucky we are in this country to have such a range of garden flowers and foliage available for use in arrangements in a variety of styles. She then proceeded to assemble several spectacular creations. Kathy's commentary throughout was clear and helpful, and the winners in the raffle of her arrangements felt very favoured indeed. Ruth expressed thanks on our behalf for an excellent and entertaining demonstration. Mabel Tansell, who is about to celebrate her birthday, had brought a cake for us to share at refreshment time. She also was judged to be the winner of the flower of the month competition with her lovely camellia.
